Hipstoric Home Tour #1/ Chicago Greystone
My first is one of my absolute favorites from Chicago. The video, “Everygirl Cofounder Alaina Kaczmarski’s Chicago Greystone” is the epitome of hipstoric because it relies on the vintage touches from the greystone, like the light ceiling medallions, elegant staircase, high ceilings, fireplace, moldings, hardwood floors. Then, the house includes the right balance of modern touches, through the abstract black and white art, the minimal white paint throughout, the staircase runner, as well as the modern light fixtures. Check out the photo tour HERE, and the video tour below. Did I mention this is a rental?!
Hipstoric Home Tour #2/ Pre-War Manhattan Apartment
The next tour is such a smart example of hipstoric home décor. Step inside a stunning pre-war apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the perfect home for Marianne Sides and her husband Ryan. Relocating from North Carolina, the couple has spent the past four months renovating and decorating their dreamy abode, now an impeccable reflection of their style. Marianne, the mastermind behind The M.A. Times, is a digital content creator who is passionate about design and aesthetics. Vintage items: original (but budget) Picasso art, floors, and fireplace. Modern touches: Frame TV art, lighting, and couch.
Hipstoric Home Tour #3/ Converted Hotel in Charleston
Emily Sermons’ vintage-inspired apartment, crowned as the Apartment Therapy‘s Small/Cool 2022 grand prize winner, is a dream come true for antique enthusiasts. Originally built as a hotel in the 1920s, this century-old condo still exudes the old-world charm of Charleston, thanks to Emily’s penchant for collecting antiques and thrifting treasures. Emily has tastefully achieved hipstoric style by blending vintage and modern elements in her home, acknowledging the city’s unique mix of old and new. “I aimed to create a classy yet cool vibe by juxtaposing my favorite vintage pieces with modern décor,” Emily shares. Get ready to be charmed by this delightful home!
Hipstoric Home Tour #4/ Paris Remodel
This next tour is an amazing renovation project from Nathaniel Drew. In this thorough video, he describes the beautiful process of renovating his Paris apartment and furnishing it with purposeful items, cherished sentimental objects and photos, and collaborating with his mother on design. I love the chevron hardwood floors, the open design, and the modern kitchen filled with a vintage touch. This video is inspirational and full of life!
Hipstoric Home Tour #5/ Family Living in NYC
Next is a home from Sophie Donelson, the ex-Editor-in-Chief of ‘House Beautiful’. She was impressed by the ample space and abundance of natural light in her Jackson Heights apartment from the moment she walked in. Despite her expertise in design, she has managed to avoid being overly critical in creating her own living space. In this video, Sophie reveals her personal design tips, cherished spots and extravagant home decor choices, offering a sneak peek into her ideal living quarters.
Her home was built in the 1920s and was inspired by English garden apartments. I love the bright pops of color from both the vintage and modern furnishings.
Hipstoric Home Tour #6/ Brooklyn Brownstone
Next up is a space from Natasha, who has transformed her 750 square foot apartment in Brooklyn into a stunning retreat away from the fast-paced city life. With the intention of bringing a little bit of the serene Caribbean islands into her living space, Natasha managed to maintain the original beauty of the apartment, including the fireplace, molding, and hardwood floors. Her strategy involved incorporating neutral furnishings, lighter wooden accents, and a blue color scheme, along with plenty of plant life and abstract artwork. This combination has created an ideal fusion of a Brooklyn brownstone and a cozy beach bungalow.
Hipstoric Home Tour #7/ Maximalist Charm
Finally is Sarah Lyon’s apartment. She can be compared to a contemporary version of Carrie Bradshaw, but rather than penning about her love life, she shares her insights about design. Sarah resides in a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, which exudes European style and charisma. Her 650 square foot apartment is not only filled with captivating design elements, but also brims with do-it-yourself hacks to get that vintage touch. Make sure to check out how she added faux vintage moldings!
